Motorola opened its first UK factory in 1967 to manufacture car radios. Today, Motorola employs circa 5,000 people in the UK across research, development, marketing and manufacturing activities.

In 2001 Motorola Ltd. had revenues of £2.5 ($3.6) billion and exports of £2.0 ($2.9) billion. Motorola has invested £1.4 billion in its UK facilities over the last 10 years.

Motorola carries out research and development activity at our Swindon, Basingstoke and Livingston sites, which together employ over 500 people directly involved in R&D activities.
